My dear friend, Bob, who is more like an uncle to both my husband and I, stated that a dose of clove could treat colds that might be in need of an effective expectorant as well as provide “warm-n-cozy cheer†those who need a nice pick-me-up on cold days.
The clove is primarily a stimulant and its volatile oil can irritate the bronchioles tubes and thus causing expulsion of phlegm or any other material. The oil of clove is also a diaphoretic in the sense that it causes the body to sweat, thereby removing any possible waste through the skin1.
The Healthwizard of HealthZone provides a list of healing recipes that might be worth a try:
- digestive disorders
- cholera
- asthma
- toothache
- earache
- muscular cramps headaches
- stye
